Fish & chips breaded in brown rice flour is probably a little healthier for you than traditional battered fish & chips, but does it taste good? Find out in my full review of Corbett's Fish House in Portland after the break.
We got lucky and arrived in time for happy hour. There were plenty of dishes to choose from for $3.95, and the "pints" of draft beer were actually 20 ounces. And we beat the crowd that showed up for dinner.

Cod fish & chips at Corbett Fish House in Portland |
Of course we had to try the cod fish & chips, which are breaded in brown rice flour rather than batter before being fried. This makes them healthier and gluten-free, according to the menu. The fish was very fresh and tasty, and the brown rice flour worked pretty well. (For a traditional fish & chips in Portland,
try the halibut fish & chips at Horse Brass Pub.)
We enjoyed Corbett Fish House's fish & chips so much I put them on my
5 Fish and Chips You Must Try In Portland list.

Shrimp cocktail at Corbett Fish House |
Also on the happy hour menu is a shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were very fresh and clean, and the cocktail sauce had just the right amount of horseradish. This was a great value at $3.95, and it was delicious.

Caesar salad at Corbett Fish House |
It's no surprise to find a fresh salad in Oregon with all the farms nearby and the emphasis on organic growing, and this salad was no exception. In fact, it's rare to find a caesar salad with real anchovies and tasted like it was made with real egg. We only wanted a salad to complement our meal but ended up with a surprisingly good Caesar.

Corbett's Fish House is also home to the local fans of the Green Bay Packers. Expect a lively crowd on game days. You can buy Packer hats, too.
TIP: Get to Corbett Fish House during happy hour with great prices and large pours of beer.
