Worker's Lunch is served Monday to Friday at Il Vecchio in Pacific Grove |
Last Monday, my family and I had the Worker's Lunch at Il Vecchio in Pacific Grove (next to Monterey), California. Read my full review with pictures after the break.
We first discovered the fixed-price and fixed menu Worker's Lunch at Il Vecchio last year after having lunch across the street. We were walking around Pacific Grove and noticed the sign for the Worker's Lunch, and decided it looked so good that we returned the next day to try it. And we were glad we did. We've been back three or four times since.

The Worker's Lunch is only served Monday through Friday. The price is always $9.50, which includes a salad, a meat dish, and a vegetarian dish. The two dishes are different each day, and they are your only choices for that day. Drinks are not included, nor is dessert.

Salad greens with spinach at Il Vecchio's Worker's Lunch |
Each meal includes a salad, which is different each day. Ours had spinach greens with onions, tomatoes, and bell peppers. The house-made vinaigrette is delicious.

Rigatoni and farfalle at Il Vecchio |
Each day is a different meal. It was Monday so we were served the rigatoni (with beef and pork) and farfalle con ricotta (butterfly pasta with pecorino cheese). The meals are brought to your table still in the pan they were cooked in, and as such they arrive hot and fresh. Both were delicious.
The worker's lunch is a wonderful treat if you are visiting the Monterey Bay. It's only Monday through Friday, and you need to get there at noon, but it's well worth it.

Il Vecchio's chocolate torte with mascarpone |
Dessert is not included, but we couldn't resist a slice of the chocolate torte with mascarpone.
It's best to arrive at noon, since the lunch is served only until 1:30, and the seating can be limited.

Monterey Bay |
After lunch, walk down Eardley Ave. to the coastal trail which is only a block away, and gives you a wonderful view of Monterey Bay.

TIP: Il Vecchio has its own parking, which is accessed from Eardley Ave. (behind the tourist information center). That can save you a lot of time on a busy day when street parking is hard to find. (And be careful where you park, since many of the nearby residential streets require parking permits.)
