Every Day Is A Donut Day in Beaverton, Oregon |
If you don't have time to drive into downtown Portland for a
Voodoo Doughnut, you can stop in nearby Beaverton at Donut Day where their slogan is, "Every day is a Donut Day." Read my full review with pictures after the jump.
We're in Portland for a week and staying in nearby Beaverton. One day we wanted donuts but didn't want to drive into downtown, so we checked
Urbanspoon's list of top donuts in Portland and found Donut Day here in town.

Fresh & hot glazed donut at Donut Day in Beaverton, Oregon |
And
these are fresh donuts -- we went in after 10 in the morning, and our glazed donut was so hot and sticky it was almost too hot to eat since it had just come out of the fryer. I asked the owner and he said he is frying donuts all day long to keep them fresh.

Inside the Maple Devil Dog |
My favorite was the maple devil dog. It's topped with maple and filled with a cream so sweet and thick it's like the buttercream icing on a cake (which I love).

Buttermilk bar at Donut Day in Beaverton |
My wife always gets a traditional buttermilk. She says this is one of the best: slightly sour, fried perfectly, not greasy, and plenty of ridges to catch the glaze.

SURPRISE: There are bathrooms at Donut Day! Two of them! And they're clean! Where I come from, no donut shop has a bathroom. When you're on the road, it's nice to find any place with a clean bathroom, let alone a donut shop.
I want to return to Donut Day before we leave Beaverton and Portland. In particular I want to get another maple devil dog, and try the Boston Cream donut.
