Santa Cruz is a beach town just south of San Francisco with a lively Boardwalk, plenty of restaurants, and lots of sun. We enjoyed the warm weather under blue skies today while sitting outside on the patio at Cafe Brasil in Santa Cruz.

As the name says, Cafe Brasil serves Brazilian fare with a focus on breakfast and lunch dishes.

We started with a watermelon and papaya smoothie while waiting for our order. This was excellent. Not too cold, and not too sweet. Very refreshing. Cafe Brasil also makes their own juices called Amazon Juices, so I'm not surprised the smoothie was so good.
I had the Omelette Brasileiro which is cream of chicken breast and lots (and I mean, LOTS) of mozzarella cheese on the inside, with cream of corn on the top. The corn sauce is a tomato sauce. The egg was cooked very thin. This was a unique omelette for me as I am used to much fluffier eggs and American breakfast meats instead of chicken breast. What a treat this omelette was. I really enjoyed it.
I added the lunch to my omelette, which adds rice and a salad with bread.

My wife enjoyed the Acebolado, which is grilled steak topped with sautéed onions, tomatoes, and green onions. Black beans were served on the side along with farofa (toasted cassava flour). Neither of us had ever tried farofa before, and we liked it when we mixed it in with the black beans. This dish also came with a salad and rice.
The salad was especially fresh and the dressing was excellent. It was a sort of vinaigrette with a lot of pepper.
There is both indoor and outdoor seating. It's easy to get to the Cafe Brasil as it's located on Mission St. which is one of the main roads through Santa Cruz.
In addition to the fresh food, the service is very friendly and prompt. Our waitress explained the menu to us and helped us with the pronunciations.

DeleteThis place is stunning. The architecture is beautiful and the decoration is spectacular. Environment of San Francisco venues was transparent and resonant and warm and immediate. I loved this place and my experience here was very exciting.
