A Cheese Board at Cheese Bar in Portland

On Belmont Street in Portland's Southeast district is the Cheese Bar cheese and deli shop. Cheese sandwiches, cheese boards, cheese by the pound -- the Cheese Bar has cheese covered. Read my full review after the break.

Just down Belmont Street from last night's dinner at Horse Brass Pub, we stopped in on a beautiful sunny day in February (!!) for lunch. The tables along the sidewalk were full so we ate inside where there was ample seating and an inviting selection of cheeses.

My wife ordered one of the boards which included pork pate. For a salad she had the wedge.

I had the Cuban sandwich with an arugula salad. Like every other salad I've had in Oregon, it was fresh and full of flavor.

The service was really something. We had two servers who explained the cheeses and beers. The chef came out and asked us how we were enjoying our salads, board, and sandwich. And the manager offered samples of cheese from the deli.

The Cheese Bar has a large selection of wine and beer.

TIP: Enjoy a stroll along the paths of nearby Mt. Tabor Park with its views of Portland. In fact, why not pack some cheese and wine from Cheese Bar and take a picnic?

I found out about Cheese Bar from Walking Portland, an excellent book by Wilderness Press.
