Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe in Victorville, CA

Schnitzel parked under the sign at Emma Jean's Holland Burger in Victorville, California
Score another win for Guy Fieri and Diners Drive-Ins and Dives. What a treat this place is! I drove out yesterday to Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe in Victorville, CA. It's an old building that's been there for years, and is run by the son of the guy who bought it from the original owner.

Historic marker at Emma Jean's Holland Burger
Very friendly atmosphere. There's a long counter with some indoor tables, and a few picnic benches out back. Plenty of parking.

Brian Burger with green chili on cheese toast
I tried a couple of the meals. I got the Brian Burger which is a well-seasoned hamburger (seems like it was about half a pound) serviced with melted white cheese (not Swiss) and a green chile (not spicy).  Everything is cooked fresh to order by the owner, Brian. But the real treat of the Brian Burger is the thick slices of cheese toast that it is served on. They are crispy and cheesy, and hold the burger together for you. Overall, the Brian Burger is like a combination of a grilled cheese sandwich and a hamburger. I loved it!

Trucker's Special (roast beef sandwich made from their own tri-tip)
The other sandwich I tried was the Trucker's Special. It is layers of sliced tri-tip that cooked in-house. It is served on the same fried cheese toast as the Brian Burger, and overall I liked it but not as much as the Brian Burger. It comes with bacon and a green chile in place of lettuce. It's not the spicy kind of chile.

Next time I want to try the breakfast. You can watch Brian cooking at the grill from your seat at the counter, and the thick slices of ham he was serving with the eggs and hash browns looked delicious.

It's cash only, and closed on Sundays. The hours are 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM. You can get breakfast and lunch any time.

Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe is on the other side of the freeway from old town Victorville. If you drive over there after your lunch you can see the old highway Route 66 and some old gas stations and buildings.

If you are driving to Las Vegas from Los Angeles, be sure to stop by Emma Jean's Holland Burger in Victorville, CA.
