Port of Call is a dive bar and restaurant at the edge of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Port of Call is known for its great burgers and their Monsoon drink is not to be missed!

I found out about Port of Call from the TV show Burger Land.

Port Of Call is currently under construction in the front but it is still open.

South Pacific decor at the Port Of Call in New Orleans
Port Of Call is located at the very east edge of the French Quarter in New Orleans. It is split between a bar, and a dining area. The whole place is very dark and decorated in a South Pacific motif.

The Monsoon at Port Of Call in New Orleans
It's crowded. DUH. But here's the thing -- while you are waiting, you can get a Monsoon, which is light and dark rum with pineapple juice and a cherry. It's ten bucks but it's worth it. By the time you get seated, you don't even care anymore about the food.

Mushroom cheese hamburger at Port Of Call in the French Quarter of New Orleans
Which is probably a good thing, because the burgers are pretty good. Not great by any means, but cooked to order and simply just fine. Cheesy and charbroiled, with mushrooms if you want them. But they are not all that big. And not all that cheap. So for a burger that was recommended by a show called Burger Land, I was a little under-whelmed. But did I mention the Monsoon??? So the burger was sort of just a way to soak up the booze and let me go on my way. Which is what good bar food is all about.

So if I go again, I will just sit at the bar and get another Monsoon. Or, get a Monsoon in a spiffy plastic to-go cup and wander around the French Quarter. And skip the burgers.
