Pecan pesto vegan crepe at The Crepe Cart in the French Market of New Orleans
No visit to New Orleans is complete without a stroll through the French Market in the French Quarter of New Orleans. There's plenty to buy and eat with an emphasis on cajun and creole Southern cooking. Keep looking though, because there's a cart on wheels selling all kinds of sweet and savory crepes, including plenty of delicious vegan crepes. Read my full review of the pecan pesto vegan crepe at The Crepe Cart after the jump.

Check out the handy holder for the crepe. It keeps everything together so you can enjoy your meal.
The vegan crepes are made with a gluten-free batter which is not the same batter they use on their non-vegan crepes. I had the pesto crepe, which is loaded with broccoli, tomatoes, spinach, and homemade pecan pesto. This is really delicious. The ingredients are all warm, and spread out evenly so that you get some of everything in each bite. I prefer this gluten-free crepe shell to a regular one because it has more flavor.

Strawberry Boat crepe
Pecans, coconut cream, powdered sugar, and of course strawberries.
Nicely manicured nails not included.

The Works crepe
Everything on the list of savory ingredients.
The Crepe Cart also has non-vegan savory, sweet, and dessert crepes.

These crepes are a full meal. We had these as a late breakfast, and didn't eat again until dinner. That's how big they are.

I heard about The Crepe Cart from the Vegan Roadie's YouTube channel.

  1. Who doesn't love a crepes? Both dessert and savory crepes are available and I enjoyed both. The fresh vegetables and bacon were cooked to perfection, the cheese was a wonderful accent that made this one of the best savory crepes I've eaten. My strawberry crepes was delicious, probably because of the abundance of pecans and coconut that I didn't expect. I can't suggest either savory or dessert, I suggest both.
